Why Hauling Costs What It Costs in Great Falls

Great Falls has a specific quirk that shapes this business: the landfill is right here, and it is cheap. The city runs its own facility on the south edge of town, which means our tipping costs are low compared with hauling in a market where the nearest transfer station is forty miles out. That is why our pricing lands where it does and why we can quote a single-item pickup at a number that would not be possible in, say, the Flathead.

What actually drives the price is volume and access. A pile stacked in the driveway is the cheapest job we do, because two people and a truck can turn it around in twenty minutes. The same volume in a finished basement, down a set of narrow stairs, behind a water heater, is an hour of careful carrying and it costs accordingly. Neither of those is a surprise if somebody tells you before they load - which is the whole reason we quote from photographs instead of "starting at" a number that only exists in an advert.

The other local factor is weather and timing. This is a town where a lot of storage happens in detached garages and unheated outbuildings, and where a windstorm can put half a cottonwood across your yard overnight. Spring thaw and post-storm weeks are when the phone rings hardest. If you are clearing a garage or a shed and it is not urgent, February is genuinely cheaper to book than May.

Why People Call Us Back

The quote is the price

We give you a number from your photos and that is the number on the invoice. Nothing gets reweighed, re-measured or re-priced once your things are already on the truck.

You don't move anything

Curbside is cheaper because it is faster, but we do not require it. Basements, upstairs rooms and back yards are part of the quoted job.

We tell you when it's not us

Hazardous material, a job that genuinely wants a roll-off container, or a load small enough to fit in your own pickup - we will say so rather than take it.

The place is clean when we leave

Swept driveway, swept floor, nothing left in the corner. Half the complaints in this trade are about what got left behind, not what got taken.

Questions We Get a Lot

How does pricing work?

By volume - how much of the truck bed your load fills - not by the hour and not by the item. Send a photo and we give you a firm number before we drive out. That number is what you pay, even if the pile turns out heavier than it looked.

What does a typical job cost in Great Falls?

A single item like a couch or a mattress runs $85 to $140. A quarter truckload, roughly a small garage corner, is $180 to $260. A half load is $300 to $420 and a full truck is $550 to $750. Full-house estate cleanouts are quoted after we walk it.

Do I have to carry anything out to the curb?

No. Curbside is cheaper because it is faster, but the price we quote for an in-house pickup already includes us going in and carrying it out. Stairs, basements and back yards are part of the job, not a surcharge we spring on you afterwards.

What can't you take?

Wet paint, solvents, pesticides, motor oil, asbestos, propane tanks and medical waste. Cascade County runs household hazardous waste collection events for most of that, and we will tell you when that is the right answer instead of quietly loading it.

Does anything get donated or recycled?

Whatever is still usable. Furniture and appliances in working condition go to local thrift and reuse outlets, metal goes to scrap, cardboard gets recycled. The rest goes to the Great Falls landfill. We do not claim a recycling percentage we cannot back up.

How fast can you come?

Most weeks we can do next-day, and same-day happens more often than you would think. Estate and hoarding jobs get scheduled properly rather than squeezed in, because rushing those goes badly.
