Why the Radius Stops Where It Does

Hauling is one of the few trades where the travel is a real part of the cost rather than a rounding error. A loaded truck burns fuel on the way to the transfer station and again on the way back, and the tipping fee is the same whether the load came from four blocks away or forty miles. Quote a job an hour out at the same rate as a job in town and either the price is wrong or the customer is paying for somebody else's drive.

So we do it the other way round. Great Falls and Black Eagle are daily - they are effectively one town for our purposes, the transfer station is right there, and same-day or next-day is normal. Fort Benton is forty miles out on MT-80 and runs on scheduled days rather than on demand, which is how it stays at the same price instead of carrying a travel surcharge. If you are out that way, the practical advice is to be flexible by a few days and it costs you nothing.

The smaller places around the edge - Vaughn, Ulm, Cascade, Belt, Sun Prairie, Simms - work when they fall on a run that is already going past. Sometimes they do and sometimes they do not, and the honest answer on the phone is worth more to you than a booking we then have to move twice.

One seasonal note worth knowing. Between roughly November and March a Great Falls wind event or a hard freeze reshuffles the schedule, because storm debris and burst-pipe cleanouts are genuinely urgent and a garage clearout is not. We will tell you if you have been bumped rather than letting you wonder.
